ONE NIGHT WITH ROY ORBISON

February 3, 2026 – April 5, 2026

NOW PLAYING!

Written & Compiled by Kevin Dabbs and Christine Bandelow

YOU GOT IT! Our Concert Series began last season with the wildly popular ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING featuring the amazingly talented Matt Cage as Elvis. We are thrilled to announce that Matt Cage is making a triumphant return to our stage to present the music of the late great Roy Orbison in this brand new production! This electrifying concert showcases Orbison’s musical journey from his simpler 1950s rock and roll beginnings, through his peak 1960s hits period (Pretty Woman, Blue Bayou, Only the Lonely, Crying, Running Scared, It’s Over), and also features the 1980s super-group The Traveling Wilburys with hits like Handle With Care, End of the Line, and You Got It. Don’t miss this exciting tribute to one of music’s most influential artists!

Among his previous appearances here is ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING, an acclaimed tribute to Elvis, and he now returns with ONE NIGHT WITH ROY ORBISON. He is currently appearing as the Big O himself, marking a new chapter in his career, and brings to the role the same depth, musicality, and storytelling that earned him acclaim for portraying Elvis in the Tony Award–winning musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. Select theatre credits include MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (Elvis — Stage West Calgary, Drayton Entertainment, Royal Manitoba Theatre, Western Canada Theatre Kamloops, and Mayfield Dinner Theatre), ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING (Elvis — Mayfield Dinner Theatre), and FLASHBACK FEVER (Ensemble — Mayfield Dinner Theatre). Derek grew up in a musical family and started playing at a young age. He moved to Alberta after high school, leaving his Manitoba farming roots behind, and began his professional musical career. During that time, he also took a job for Otis Elevator Company; like every job, it had its ups and downs. For almost three decades now he has been employed at the Mayfield Dinner Theatre playing everything from tribute shows to Broadway musicals. He is grateful to share the stage with these exceptional musicians and old friends. Although not the best bassist in the band before you, he is in the top five. Derek would never use gratuitous italics and is always delighted by the opportunity to write about himself in the third person. PS. Keep your eyes glued to Roy as he moves around a great deal...NAWWWWT!!!
