Artistic Director of English Theatre at the National Arts Centre (1997-2005); 18 seasons with the Stratford Festival where her directorial credits include Les Belles Soeurs, The Merchant of Venice, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Trojan Women, The Winter’s Tale; 7 seasons with the Shaw Festival; 3 productions for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre; she has directed productions at The Arts Club, Vancouver Playhouse, The Citadel Theatre, Theatre Calgary, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Tarragon Theatre, The Canadian Stage Company, Talk Is Free Theatre, The Segal Centre, Theatre New Brunswick, The Neptune Theatre, and 10 productions for Drayton Entertainment including Sleuth (2012), Brighton Beach Memoirs (2016) and Death of a Salesman (2017). Ms. Maraden has also taught and directed at universities throughout Canada and the United States. She has just directed The Miracle Worker for Drayton and in July she will direct her 12th production for them: Twelve Angry Men. She is delighted to be returning to Edmonton and to be working with the Mayfield Theatre for the first time.
Michael Hanrahan has been an actor for 40 years playing in theatres across Canada and the United States. A native of Chicago, Michael came to Canada for what he thought was going to be 6 months – and 33 years later he is still here making his home in Toronto with his wife actress Susan Henley with whom he has two grown sons. Mr. Hanrahan has appeared in numerous film and television projects and has lent his voice to hundreds of TV and radio commercials. He would like to dedicate his performance to the good health and good fortune of his friend Victor Young.
Tyrone is an actor, director, writer and voice-over artist lucky enough to have worked from St. John’s to Vancouver and is delighted to be making his debut here at the Mayfield in Edmonton. Recently he was nominated for a Jessie award in Vancouver for his work on The Matchmaker at the Arts Club. Other credits include The Gamblers (Talk is Free) All My Friends Are Animals (Babelle/Axis); Six seasons at the Stratford Festival including roles in School For Scandal, Timon of Athens, She Stoops to Conquer, Anne Frank, Alice Through The Looking Glass, Hay Fever, Oedipus Rex, Henry V, Three Musketeers, Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing and The Grapes of Wrath. He also co-created, directed and acted in the Dora and Toronto Theatre Critics award winning musical Chasse-Galerie at Soulpepper in 2016. In film and television his credits include work on Reign, Dragon Prince, Wind At My Back (5 Seasons), Redwall and he was featured in Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed: Odyssey. James is thrilled to be making his Edmonton acting debut with the Mayfield. He is the Associate Director for New Works Theatre Company and recently directed the world premiere of Pardon My French by Gerald Wright. Previous credits with New Works are Alone At Last by Cindy Clement, Anyone’s Guess by Harvey Lemmens and Stranger People by Phoebe Grant. Favorite productions as an actor from theatres across Canada include: Hamlet, The School for Scandal, Our Town, The History Boys, Cloud 9, The Last Five Years, Look Back in Anger, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Arcadia, What the Butler Saw and Twelfth Night. James resides in Ontario with his wife Lisa and their two furry friends, Bella and Chance.
Gavin has been a fan of mystery theatre since a young age and is happy to have the opportunity to lend his voice once again to Detective Sergeant Tarrant, having voiced the role twice before for productions in the UK. Gavin grew up in England and studied briefly at the Oxford School of Drama before hitting the road with a handful of indie theatre companies. He moved to Canada in 2005 and turned his attention from acting to writing. He is the author of seven children’s books which feature artwork by his beautiful wife, Sylvia. Wade is excited to be making his theatre debut with Sleuth. He is a freelance voiceover artist from here in Edmonton and has created voices for over 20 video games and nearly 40 commercials. When he’s not working in the studio, you will most likely find Wade hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with his family.
